We are excited to announce the relaunch of the DIY Toolkit! This online resource provides practical tools to trigger and support social innovation. It offers guidance, templates and explainer videos on how to invent, adopt or adapt ideas that can deliver better results. It’s quick to use, and simple to apply.

The DIY Toolkit was initiated by Nesta and made possible by The Rockefeller Foundation. Stby and Quicksand have curated, edited and designed the toolkit.

DIY stands for ’Development Impact and You’. The toolkit was primarily meant for practitioners in international development, but can be used by anyone who feels they can benefit from it. As many people may know, the DIY toolkit was originally launched in 2014 and it has been a runaway success among design and innovation professionals around the globe. In its first year it was already viewed over 300,000 times in over 165 countries.

The current relaunch of the DIY Toolkit is to celebrate the revival of the original website. As Nesta was no longer able to support the maintenance of the site, STBY and Quicksand have offered to take care of this. Since the site had not been accessible for a while, we received many queries about this. We’re glad to announce that now everyone has full online access again!

The toolkit contains a set of 30 best-in-class and proven tools that aim to trigger and support social innovation. Every tool has a concise description, downloadable worksheets, practical instructions, and a tutorial video to get you started. The toolkit is published under a Creative Commons licence and therefore freely available online. Many tools also have one or more case studies that describe the use of them in the context of specific projects, organisations and cultures.

The DIY Toolkit is also available as a PDF in 10 different languages. These PDFs can be downloaded from the website www.diy-toolkit.org and also from the websites of Nesta and Stby.
