Global research on Podcast creators

Understanding Media Creation for Online Streaming
A foundational study was conducted to create knowledge on the evolving practices of media creation for online streaming around the world. The aim was to investigate how strategies and services may need to be localised as content creation rapidly expands in several global markets.
Research Methodology
The project collaborated with Reach Network partners to explore how content creation is perceived and done across six different countries on four continents. The research was split into two phases and involved desk research, followed by remote interviews with content creators. The first phase focused on understanding creators’ expectations, objectives, needs, and motivations. The second phase focused on learning the ropes of content creation, through home or studio visits with an ethnographic approach.
Cultural Influences on Content Creation
The research highlighted how cultural trends, geographic location, socioeconomic situation, and access to resources can influence content creation from one market to another.
