Understanding and better supporting teamwork

The Challenge of Researching Interconnected Collectives
Many design research methods are tailored to understanding single users, which makes it difficult to research the needs and preferences of users within teams and communities. Stby studied teams and teamwork within large organisations to explore interactions between people at multiple levels.
Mixed-Methods Qualitative Approach
A mixed-methods qualitative approach was used to capture data from individuals, pairs, and the team, including a 2-week probe study, remote interviews, and interactive workshops. The approach needed to capture stories from individuals, pairs of individuals and the team.
