Fostering Collaboration in a Global Consortium

In today's interconnected world, the success of organisations and collaborations depends not only on technical skills but also on a strong culture and the ability to learn together. Matchboxology, as the Human-Centred Design (HCD) partner, played a key role in developing the culture for the Agency for All consortium, a five-year USAID-funded project involving fourteen global partners. This initiative recognised that cultivating a strong internal culture was as important as external project goals.

Internal Culture Workstream and Innovative Approaches

Matchboxology spearheaded a dedicated internal culture workstream to align the consortium's principles, values and practices. This involved creating space for meaningful dialogue and collective action, as well as implementing innovative approaches such as annual internal assessments and the establishment of an internal task force. By using HCD, Matchboxology ensured that solutions were co-created, diverse voices were amplified, and agency was strengthened throughout the consortium. This workstream enabled voices to be heard and insights to be translated into impactful strategies.

Strengthened Practices and Extended Learnings

This internal culture workstream strengthened the consortium’s dedication to practising agency and produced valuable lessons that extended beyond the project itself. The Agency for All project involved 14 global partners across the U.S.A, Uganda, Cameroon, India, Kenya and South Africa. The project website is listed as Agency for All
