Understanding mental health challenges in the Indian context

The Challenge of Mental Health Stigma in India
Mental health is often under-communicated and stigmatised in India, which makes it hard for people, particularly young people to talk about it. Quicksand partnered with Sangath to transform the topic into an accessible and engaging experience using narrative storytelling, comics, public events, and digital platforms. Quicksand also worked with the Wellcome Trust to explore mental health in the Indian context through focus groups and engagement with practitioners.
Engaging Youth with Mental Health
The project aimed to enhance the engagement of Indian youth with mental health topics using different methods such as comics, public events, animated videos and interactive digital platforms. They also engaged with diverse mental health practitioners and organisations that work with Indian youth.
